The Earthbound Alphabet: A - E

At Earthbound Organics, we are very proud of our skincare products, and the variety of beautiful, natural ingredients that Jo uses to make them.

This has inspired us to create The Earthbound Alphabet, where we'll be attempting to list a full A-Z of ingredients that you'll find in our products!

So, naturally, we'll be starting with...

A is for Aloe Vera

Aloe is a wonderful ingredient, with plenty of topical uses. It smoothes fine lines and hydrates the skin, helping to restore elasticity.

It is high in B vitamins, antioxidants, and contains 18 amino acids which work together to soothe dry, irritated skin.

You'll find organic aloe vera in many of our products aimed at gently healing the skin, such as: TLC Soothing Gel for stings and burns, and my Chickweed & Calendula Cream which is great for eczema.

You'll also find it in our Blueberry & Vitamin C Eye Gel, as it's fantastic for reducing puffiness.⁣

B is for Blueberry Oil

As one of nature's most powerful antioxidant berries, blueberry oil packs quite a punch when it comes to skincare. It's very effective for cell and tissue regeneration, and its abundance of antioxidants makes it a wonderful anti-aging tonic.

One of the main reasons that skin ages is due to the assault of free radicals from UV rays, pollution, diet, and more. Antioxidants neutralize this damage, helping the skin to weather all sorts of stress and still retain its elasticity and glow.

And thanks to naturally high levels of Vitamin E and Omega 3 fatty acids, it's often used to repair damaged skin tissue and reduce wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes.

This is why you'll find Blueberry Oil in both of our organic eye care products: the light and soothing Blueberry & Vitamin C Eye Gel, and the gentle Rejuvenating Eye Cream.

C is for Calendula

There were so many wonderful ingredients we could have picked for C; comfrey, camelina, chamomile... but we simply had to pick calendula as it's Jo's very favourite plant.

The petals of calendula flowers are antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and immuno-stimulating. These properties are useful for gently treating various types of dermatitis such as eczema, and soothing burns and scars.

Calendula is also known for its ability to brighten skin and protect from blemishes, whilst moisturising dryness and increasing collagen production.

Jo grows, harvests, and dries all her own calendula, and then macerates it in cold-pressed organic sunflower oil. This concoction finds its way into many of our skincare products, from the Baby's Cream and Baby's Soap to our Cream Cleanser and Lip Balm.

D is for Daucus Carota

You will find Organic Carrot Oil (Daucus Carota) in many of our products, as it has plenty of skincare benefits.

Carrot oil is rich in vitamins B, C, D and E, and contains over 600 carotenoids including beta-carotene. Our bodies convert this into active vitamin A, which stimulates skin cell growth and maintains the elasticity of skin.

It also gives the skin colour, shine and nourishment, making it an excellent choice for dull, tired, dehydrated, sun damaged or mature skin.

To experience some of the benefits of Daucus Carota for yourself, have a look at our simple Carrot Moisturiser, my lovely Rejuvenating Cream, and my gentle Cream Cleanser.

E is for Elderflower

The anti-microbial and anti-fungal compounds in elderflower help to keep the skin healthy and clear, balancing out excess oil and helping to prevent break-outs.

Astringent properties cause the skin to tighten, reducing the size and appearance of pores, leaving the skin looking and feeling smoother and fresh.

Elderflower also reduces inflammation and promotes lymphatic drainage, helping reduce puffiness around the eyes and softening wrinkles.

You'll find organic elderflower in our brand new Clear Skin Serum and the Pure Face For Men Serum, which are designed to calm troubled and acne prone skin. You'll also find it in my Blueberry & Vitamin C Eye Gel to lift, soothe, and tighten under eye skin.
